How sure were you that it was the truth?
by sleepy inwhen you were a witness how sure were you that it was the truth?.
were you totally convinced or did you think it was just the best way to serve a god but not perfect.. it amazes me when i think of how vigourusly i defended the witness and my ideals when on the minisrty and in talking to friends.. what worries me is that if i was so covinced then about what i belive then should i be so convinced now.. back then i was at the pinnacle of understanding or at least i belived i was , do i feel the same now?.
well i try to not be so dogmatic about thing now.

Creative Disassociation
by hillary_step inwell, you have to admit it most da letters are boring.
especially so are the ones that contain 15-20 pages full of quotes from the golden age of march 15th 1917, or an obscure reference to a slip of the pen made by some overworked and knackered out member of writing.. lets be honest, most xjw's do not read past the first few paragraphs, but we all expect our letters will be read by the wts or its representatives, analysed and then responded to.
the reality is that they are rapidly scanned for 'juicy bits' and dumped into a bin marked, 'oh, god not another one!..

Stuff we wouldn't do offline that we do here
by joelbear in1. argue with a six year old.. ever had a deep discussion with a six year old (or someone with a three year old's mentality)?
ever heard two six year old's arguing?.
typically it turns to name calling and "i know you are but what am i" exchanges fairly rapidly.. would we walk up to a 6 year old or a mentally challenged adult and engage in one of these ridiculous, non-productive and demoralizing exchanges?.

Usage of the internet
by joelbear inmost people use the internet for two main purposes.. 1. to gather information, both factual and editorial, on subjects that they have an interest in or a need for.. 2. to communicate with other people that have similar interest in topics they have an interest in, in order to exchange information on a one to one basic.
this is done through instant message, emails, discussion forums and chat rooms.. both of these purposes could also be fulfilled through offline activities and most people use both sources to meet their needs.. then, there are people who use the internet to invade other people's personal space by purposely disrupting discussion forums or chat rooms.
some of these people go further by sending unwanted email and/or instant messages.. these people also typically engage in antisocial behavior just as name calling, threats and insults and also very typically braggadocio.

JW sense of Bro-hood.....*sigh wistfully*
by ashitaka inmy sister's future in-laws are threatening that no one will come to their wedding if they don't have it in the kingdom hall.. (we're the reason they can't have it in the hall.
the soon-to-be newlyweds want us to be in the wedding, plus we're shelling out some major cash for it.).
don't you just love the jw sense of brotherhood?

Indigenous Flora / Fauna / Witnesses
by Englishman inback in the 1800's, some smart fella decided that it would be nice to add the american grey squirrel to the uk's indigenous population of red squirrels.
the american grey decimated the uk red by booting it out of it's natural habitat, so that it can now only breed freely on a few off-shore places such as the isle of wight.. poor red squirrel: .
in the 1800's, some uk wise guy decided that it would be nice for the americans to enjoy the delights of our own flying, screeching rodent, the starling, and released 24 pairs in new york city.

The Bible Is Whatever You Want It to Be.
by Englishman ini don't read the bible very much.
i don't call god 'jehovah', either.. you know why, of course, both the bible and 'jehovah' make me think of the wtbts.
that, folks, is a very unpleasant memory, so if satan is living in brooklyn, he's succeeded in pushing me away from the good book.
